Petsafe Invisible Fence

Petsafe Invisible Fence

If you have a dog, and an unfenced yard – then you need a PetSafe invisible fence. The PetSafe invisible fence system is an ingenious (and yes, invisible) way to keep your dog safely within his own territory and out of trouble – in your yard. The PetSafe invisible fence allows you to set up boundaries to allow your dog free roaming areas in your yard – while also keeping him from sticking him from getting out into the street where he can be hit by a car (or cause an accident), become lost, or become injured by other dogs. The PetSafe invisible fence is much less expensive than building a fence and much more secure than an actual fence that your dog could dig out from underneath and follow his natural curiosity to explore the world.

Like most pet containment fences, the PetSafe invisible fence works by restricting your dog's movement using a harmless electrical shock collar that is placed around his neck and a wire that is either placed in the ground or a radio frequency that is emitted between predetermined points in your yard. The first type (in ground) is an electronic fence. The latter is a radio fence. Both fences work on the same principle: when your dog heads to an area that he's not allowed to be in, a mild electrical shock will encourage him to retreat. As he gets closer, the shocks will intensify, and gradually – he'll learn where he can and cannot venture to. The PetSafe invisible fence is much more humane than tie-out cords that can totally restrict the dog's outdoor movement to within the range of a few feet.

When shopping for your PetSafe invisible fence, be sure to look for a model that features multi level correction in lieu of one that corrects the dog with just one level of electrical shock intensity. Also look for a fence that features lightning protection to avoid damaging your system, and a warranty to cover defects in workmanship for a period of time (preferably lifetime). When installing your PetSafe invisible fence, be sure to:
• Bury the wire no deeper than six inches, but at least one inch in the ground.
• Make a diagram detailing the placement of the wire for future maintenance or replacement if needed.
• Install your PetSafe invisible fence transmitter either indoors or in a waterproof location outdoors to guard against damage from moisture.
